Vintage Chanel Coral mini square bag

I’ve always loved true vintage Chanel flap bags, so my hunt began. I knew I needed another mini rectangular bag, but this time in red. However, the magical moment didn’t turn out well because I realized that my find was more of a coral red, which wasn’t what I wanted. Unfortunately, the seller was uncooperative, leaving me no choice but to keep it.

Why Did I Choose It? At the time, I was convinced I had finally found my vintage mini rectangular bag in true red. The price was good, so I decided to buy it right away.

Features: this bag has a long strap, making it perfect for crossbody wear, and includes a zipped compartment. The interior is red leather, unlike the black version which has a burgundy interior, even in the Mona Lisa pocket at the back. Made from soft lambskin leather, this bag also features hardware plated with 24K gold, typical of all vintage Chanel bags.

Where Did I Buy It? I saw this bag on an Instagram post from a private vintage seller, whom I prefer not to mention due to the negative experience.

Cons: the primary downside of this bag is its discoloration, making it more orangey than red. Additionally, the lambskin leather is delicate, so you need to be careful to avoid scratches.

Would I Purchase It Again? Yes, but not from this seller or any other private seller. If something goes wrong, there’s not much you can do other than keep the bag. This experience taught me that it’s better to buy from second-hand platforms like eBay or Vestiaire Collective, as they can verify if the product matches the description and ensure its authenticity.

As a final piece of advice, I always recommend people double-check pictures and descriptions. If something seems off, ask for more information and better-lit pictures. Remember, pictures are often retouched or faded to hide flaws. Be cautious with non-black bags, as they are more likely to suffer from discoloration or color transfer. Pay close attention to details to avoid unpleasant surprises.
