Hello there,
The barn-style jacket trend is here to stay—no doubt about it. This utilitarian outerwear essential has become one of my favorite wardrobe staples since last fall. Honestly, it’s everything we need to refresh our closets in a fun, practical, and stylish way. I don’t know if it’s just me, but these jackets seem to pair effortlessly with anything—jeans, dresses, skirts—you name it. That versatility is something you can’t always say about a leather biker jacket. Don’t get me wrong, I love a great biker moment, but its wearability can be a bit more limited.
For this outfit, of course I pulled out my black corduroy-collared checked barn jacket from Mango. It’s been one of my most-worn pieces through the colder months. This waxed style is warm, well-constructed, and adds a subtle pop of color to my outfit thanks to the green, yellow, and burgundy check pattern—it’s understated but still chic and refined.
To follow the same color palette, I chose a burgundy Oxford-style sweater from Zara and paired it with my latest denim obsession: cropped flared jeans, also from Zara. These were such a great find—super comfy, with just the right amount of stretch. The cropped cut is perfect for showing off my Orianna2 Nubuck ankle boots from Clarks. I had been on the hunt for chunky, Oxford-style boots, and these checked every box. They come in three colors, but I picked the rich chocolate brown—they blend beautifully with all kinds of neutral tones.
Let’s talk accessories. Enter the balaclava—what a game changer. Funny enough, I used to say I’d never wear one, and now I have two! I love them. They keep you stylish and warm on cold, windy days. Both of mine are from Zara, and the one I’m wearing here is the most versatile because it easily blends with the rest of my wardrobe.
To finish the ensemble, I went with my black leather mini Bellissima bag from Soeur—such a gem. I truly have nothing but great things to say about it. If you’re on the lookout for a well-made, elegant, and spacious crossbody bag at an accessible price point, this one’s worth checking out. It also comes in several colors and a larger size, so you’re likely to find a version that suits your style.
What do you think? Would you give barn jackets a try this season?
