Lately, I’ve been all about Violette_FR’s makeup line, and it’s easy to see why. The French guru’s aesthetic is effortlessly chic, blending bold colors with subtle textures to achieve that perfectly balanced, glamorous look. As a fan of a bold lip, I was intrigued by how she makes vivid shades look so natural. Naturally, I had to try her famous Bisou Balm line, a collection of sheer matte lipsticks with hydrating properties, designed to give that coveted “just-been-kissed” lip look. After a few days of wear, here’s what I’ve found.
My Picks
I went with two shades from the collection:
- Sucette: A rich yet softened raspberry color, known for being the most pigmented shade among the eight. It adds a beautiful pop to the lips.
- Amour Fou: An orange-red that appears brighter in the tube than it does on the lips. It’s a lovely shade, but I was hoping for something slightly more red.
Formula & Wear
The formula is impressively lightweight; you genuinely forget you’re wearing lipstick. I love this because it allows for a natural, “barely-there” application, almost like putting on a balm. From the two shades I tried, Sucette was my favorite as it gives a bolder pop, while Amour Fou is subtler.
On the downside, the color doesn’t last as long as I’d hoped, even without eating or drinking. Considering the price point, I’m not sure if it’s justified. However, Violette_FR sometimes runs promotions. I waited for one myself, which included a free makeup pouch and a discount—definitely a bonus!
Shipping Considerations
If you’re ordering internationally, keep in mind that shipping can take longer than expected (at least in my experience), and it’s only free for orders over €100.
Final Thoughts
While I do like the Bisou Balm, I’m unsure if I’ll repurchase. I love the natural, matte finish, but I’m not convinced I like them enough to add them to my regular lineup. For a similar look with more staying power, I’d recommend checking out lip stain or oil formulas from Dior or YSL, which give a beautiful pop of color that lasts throughout the day.
